
Course Overview
The competence and skill needed to effectively manage people in work settings will be increasingly important to organizations in future years. To meet this challenge, this area is intended for two types of management-oriented students: (1 ) Students who believe that they will be more effective in their future careers if they master the skill of managing people in technical work settings as line managers and (2) Students who plan to specialize in the industrial relations and personnel functions as staff managers.
This area is concerned with developing and disseminating knowledge and skills concerned with the management and utilization of human resources to meet the needs of individuals and organizations in the private, public, and nonprofit sectors.

Industrial Testing (3 Units)

This course covers the discussion on job analysis and job evaluation, the development of job description, salary structure, various principles and techniques in determining wage scale and the design and implementation of systems and procedures as well as the mechanisms for reorganizing, rewarding and compensating people in the organization.

This is a 3-unit major course that deals on the organization’s employee assistance program contributory to their motivation toward achieving efficiency and effectiveness in disposing their tasks. The course also deals on the occupational safety for employees based from the mandate of the law and the commitment on the part of the organization in viewing how important its human resources. The course will be delivered through lectures, interactive discussions, case analysis and discussions.

Public Personnel Administration (3 units) This course gives the students a chance to look--from the perspective of a public personnel manager--at the range of responsibilities and activities that fall under the umbrella of personnel administration, at who the customers are, at why an apparently sedate administrative support function has become a lightening rod for public debate in the 1990s, and at what may happen next. The student, as a course participant, draws from recent personnel literature, legislation, and current headlines. Specifically, techniques and tools used in the management of personnel in government organizations, including the merit system, recruiting, placement, career systems, public pay systems, employee motivation, public employee labor relations, employee appraisals, manpower [i.e., workforce] planning, employee separations, and retirement systems are discussed.

Strategic HRM (3 units)
This is a 3-unit major subject which will encompass the study on the importance of Human Resource Management as the basic foundation in establishing a successful and functional organization by itself and in relation to the civil society in general. It will highlight wisdom that will be uncovered in the process of learning. Topic on Human Resource Planning, Recruitment/ Selection, Hiring/Employment Decision, Organizational Familiarization/ Interfacing, Human Resource in Maintenance, Labor Management Relations, Human Resource Discipline, Human Resource Performance Evaluation , Retirement Separation and the challenges of the Information Technology to the HRM. The Values that will be reinforced are concern for the Person as a human being and not just as one of the resources in a corporate world, the art of instituting a balancing act between the human resource and the management, leader-manager, concern for the environment, critical/analytical thinking and search for the truth.

Research Methods I (3 units)
Methods of Research 1 deals with the development of the essential ideas, concepts, principles, tools, and skills needed in business research as applied to human
resource management. Specifically, it deals with the research problem, the various research methods, preparation of the research instruments, review of related literature
and studies, sampling techniques, and the selection of statistics in the analysis of data. The procedural aspects of thesis development, from the research problem identification up to the development of the research design are given emphasis. Due importance is given to the identification and definition of the research problem and the design of
the tools of research. Thus, Methods of Research 1 is concerned with writing the first three chapters of the thesis.

Research Methods II (3 units)
Methods of Research 2 is the continuation of Research Methodology 1. Specifically, it deals with answering the research problems identified in Chapter 1 through the presentation, analysis, and interpretation of data gathered using the research instrument(s). Thus, it presents to the students the various methods of presenting and analyzing data. Due importance is given to the summary of findings, the formulation of conclusions from the findings, and development of recommendations.

Human Resource Seminars & Workshop (3 units)
This is a 3-unit course designed for students in preparation for them to the corporate world. Lectures and interactive discussions on proper attitude and personality development that will help them establish their careers will be emphasized. The course is also designed to provide students with the necessary skills in organizing and managing seminars that will strengthen their knowledge in events management as well. Simulation and role playing will be employed on topics that will make the students on the almost real situations pertaining to their career development.

Practicum (3 units)
This course is a required subject to all senior management students. It is a three (3)- unit subject divided into two parts: Part I. – Lecture series on selected management topics.
After completing the requirements of the course, the students should know the relevance of on the job training experience in their chosen field of specialization as well as learn practical of theories through seminar. At the end of the course, the students are expected to complete a 150-hour experiential exposure at approved business enterprise specifically in the following areas of students professional development:.
