The Objective of the CLAS Department
General Objective:
The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences moulds the student to gain comprehensive and in- depth understanding of the potentials, experiences, and distinct quality life of a person.
Specific Objectives:
Specifically, the CLAS pursues the following objectives for the formation of a student who:
A. SPIRITUAL
1. lives a life as a constant witness to the message of Jesus Christ.
2. fearlessly stands up in the defense of his faith
3. is an ardent devotee of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Rosary and the Dominican Saints.
B. VOLITIONAL
1. possesses a high degree of responsibility
2. achieves professional competence and responsiveness as member of Phil. society.
C. INTELECTUAL
1. develops his ability to analyze and to think critically and to form right judgment.
2. enhances his ability to investigate and expresses the results and his ideas clearly on the basis of solid data and study.
D. SOCIAL
1.actively participates in the affairs of the Church
2.works for the betterment of the society
3.develops a strong sense of concern and fulfillment on the problems of the country.
E. CULTURAL
1. appreciates the human values and cultural heritage
2. promotes desirable Filipino habits, customs and traditions
F. PSYCHOLOGICAL
1. manifests a well - balanced personality
2. develops his ideals, attitudes and habits
G. PHYSICAL
1. gains essential foundation for his development into a productive and well-rounded citizen.
2. cares for his body as temple of the Holy Spirit
H. PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTIVITY
1. is an asset to his community and to the nations as well
2. meets demands and challenges of his chosen profession
3. creates opportunity for the improvement of the quality of life not only for himself but for the other members of the society.
For SY 2006-2007, the Department aims to:
- Assist in the establishment of a Lay Dominican Chapter
- Continue working for a clean re-accreditation
- Prepare to make Communication Arts a Center of Development
- Achieve a VERY SATISFACTORY PMAS rating for 75% of the faculty and staff
- Achieve increase in enrollment of 153 students.
- Adopt ISO standards and be a 5’s Department
- Reduce expenses through cost-cutting measures
- Conduct direct marketing by faculty members and students
- Conduct at least one action research per area
- Enhance teaching strategies by adopting at least one of the five new teaching techniques.
- Offer Mandarin and Nipponggo in all courses
- Increase the number of masteral degree holders by 20 %.
- Increase the number of doctorate degree holders or doctorate students by 10 %.
- Establish linkage with GMA
