Course Overview
The Political Science Program prepares the students for careers in government, international affairs, public administration of justice, as well as for graduate work in political sciences or admission to law school. The curriculum includes core requirements in the area considered essential to the discipline and emphasis in international relations, political systems and doctrines, local government administration, government politics in asia and politics of developing nations, among others. It is also enriched with supporting courses in the social and behavioral sciences focusing on contemporary problems and current issues in the Philippine society.

POLSCI201 INTRODUCTION TO INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS (3units)
A course dealing with the major concerns of state intercourse, foreign policies and the role of multi sectoral dimensions among states and nations.
POLSCI202 POLITICAL DOCTRINES AND SYSTEM (3units)
This course aims to present a thorough analysis and comparison of various political doctrines and systems that shaped the world’s politics.
POLSCI203 FUNDAMENTALS OF POLITICAL SCIENCE (3units)
An introductory course to all political science subjects which primarily discuss the basic concepts, principles and applications relating to governmental structures.
POLSCI204 INTRODUCTION TO PHILIPPINE GOVERNMENT AND POLITICS (3units)
The course focuses on the history and evolution of Philippine Government and politics. It aims to provide an objective politico-historical analysis on the accomplishments and performance of Philippine leaders. 
POLSCI205 PHILIPPINE PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION (3units)
An introductory course on the principles, practices and problems of public administration, and the behavioral and institutional analysis of the national and local burueaucracy and administration in the Philippines.
POLSCI206 INTRODUCTION TO COMPARATIVE GOVERNMENT AND POLITICS (3units)
An introduction to the study of governmental and non- governemental political process in selected industrialized and developing countries.
POLSCI207 PHILIPPINE POLITICAL THOUGHTS (3units)
A survey course dealing with the main currents of political ideas of well-known from Filipino Thinkers ( i.e. Mabini, Bonifacio, Rizal, Recto, J. P. Laurel, Benigno Aquino )
POLSCI208 ANCIENT MEDIEVAL POLITICAL THEORIES (3units)
A course that deals with the political ideas of Plato, Aristotle and selected Medieval Thinkers. 
POLSCI209 INTERNATIONAL AND REGIONAL ORGANIZATION (3units)
A study of the origins, development and prospects of international and regional organizations. Special emphasis will be given to the Organizations of United Nations and selected Regional Organizations.
POLSCI210 LOCAL GOVERNMENT IN THE PHILIPPINES (3units)
The course provides a historical view of local structures, their operations and powers and their relationship to the central government, assessment of the implementation of 1991 Local Government Code, issues of decentralization and people participation in local government. 
POLSCI211 SOCIAL LEGISLATION (3units)
This course deals with Philippine Statutes which govern the relationship of labor and capital, and an in-depth case analysis of legal issues on labor standards and labor relations.
POLSCI212 INTERNATIONAL POLITICS (3units)
A study of Power Politics in the international community. This is a substantive scrutiny on the concepts of POWER.
POLSCI213 GOVERNMENT POLITICS OF SOUTHEAST ASIA (3units)
A study of the political systems and key political institutions in the development of the Southeast Asian nation- states ( i.e. Brunei, Myanmar, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. )
POLSCI214 POLITICO - SOCIO- ECONOMIC DIMENSIONS (3units)
This course seeks to evaluate and integrate the dynamics of political, social and economics phenomena affecting the nation.
POLSCI215 ENVIROMENTAL POLITICS (3units)
A presentation and evaluation of current enviromental issues, such as pollution movements, land and water use, energy, population and waste management. This study would provide students access to the knowledge of what preventive or regulatory measures are being undertaken by the policy of the government towards the resolution of those problems. 
POLSCI216 AMERICAN GOVERNMENT AND POLITICS (3units)
This course deals with the political evolution of American politics together with the political framework that molds the system.
POLSCI217 INTERNATIONAL POLITICAL ECONOMY (3units)
Provides a broad understanding of the global interrelationship of politics and economy considering the increasing interdependence among nations requiring examination of world currency, monetary and trade policies affecting nations.
POLSCI218 INTERNATIONAL LAW (3units)
A study of the principles of international law and it’s application on observance in the conduct of relationships among states and other international entities. The course includes critical survey of regional as well as international bodies like the UN, NATO, EMU, etc. as well as the foreign relations of Philippines and the principal agencies involved in the formulation of Philippine foreign policy since 1898 to the present.
POLSCI219 QUANTITATIVE ANALYSIS OF POLITICAL DATA (3units)
Statistical technique for social research and the quantitative analysis of political data.
POLSCI220 INTRODUCTION TO POLITICAL ANALYSIS (3units)
Introduction to various qualitative research issues, methods and styles for understanding and explaining socio- political phenomena.
POLSCI221 CONTEMPORARY POLITICAL MOVEMENTS (3units)
A seminar course that covers present - day political problems in the Philippines and elsewhere in the world.
POLSCI222 MODERN POLITICAL THEORIES (3units)
Political thoughts from renaissance period to the contemporary thinkers.

  • At the end of a four-year Arts and Sciences degree course, a student should have attained a broad general education in humanities,  natural sciences and social sciences so that the student would have:
