Major in Theology
This course covers the true teachings of the catholic faith and its practices with the aim of forming people who can effectively do the work of evangelization especially through education.
THEOLOGY
Theo 1 - HISTORY OF SALVATION - (3) units
A study of the articles of faith contained in the Apostles' Creed, and of God's revelation of His love for His People through the events, themes, and writings of the Old and New Testaments.
Theo 2 – CHRISTOLOGY - (3) units
A study of the life, mission and teachings of Jesus Christ as recorded in the narratives of the Four Gospels; It shows Christ as truly God and truly Man. It offers a simple, practical method of scripture study, as well as an introduction to the Dogmatic Constitution on Divine Revelation (Dei Verbum).
Theo 3 - ECCLESIOLOGY - (3) units
This course seeks o present the significance of the Church, the community of believers, as "people of God" through a comprehensive study of the Dogmatic Constitution on the Church (Lumen Gentium). It gives the Trinitarian origin of the Church; offers Mariology, bringing out the role of Mary, Mother of the Church and traces the history of Church from Apostolic times to the Second Vatican Council.
Theo 4 - SACRAMENTAL THEOLOGY - (3) units
Against the background of Scripture and Tradition, which includes the Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy (Sacrosanctum Councilium) this course studies sacramental action and worship as an encounter with the Risen Christ in and through His Church. Emphasis is given to the sacraments of initiation (baptism & confirmation), of reconciliation (penance & anointing) and the Eucharist as the Center of the unity of the "People of God".
Theo 5 - MORAL THEOLOGY - (3) units
A study of the basis of fundamental moral theology - as part of the human response to God's revelation - especially freedom, fundamental orientation, sin and conscience. Significant moral questions regarding the specific nature of Christian morality, the role of the community and of authority in moral discourse, and the function of the pre-conceptual element in moral decision are also discussed in the first part of the course. As a transition to the second part, on special moral theology, the contemporary rethinking of the principle of double effect (as a central element in moral evaluation) is studied.
Theo 6 - THE PHILIPPINE CHURCH - (3) units
The course presents the mission of the Church in the Philippines – especially in building up God's Kingdom where freedom, justice and love reign. This is done through a situational and structural analysis, and a study of the Pastoral Constitution on the Church in the Modern World (Gaudium et Spes) and related Church documents. It deals with the history of the Church in the Philippines, national and church issues, popular religiosity, and the thrust of building basic Christian Communities.
Theo 7 - CHRISTIAN MARRIAGE - (3) units
Presents marriage as a sacrament and a vocation, and offers a discussion on parenthood; human sexuality; love; courtship and dating, husband and wife relationship. It shows that love, responsibility and commitment are realities that emerge from a union of husband and wife where God - Father, Son and Holy Spirit becomes the center of their conjugal love. The course explores the significant role of the Christian Family in the Church and in the modern world.
Theo 8 - CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT - (3) units
This is both a content and practicum course which aims to provide the students with the necessary Community Organization and Community Development concepts , values principles, strategies and experiences based on the social doctrines of the Church, and the Decree on the Apostolate of Lay People (Apostolican Actuositatem). It prepares the student to be aware of her Christian social responsibility |

At the end of a four-year Arts and Sciences degree course, a student should have attained a broad general education in humanities, natural sciences and social sciences so that the student would have:
- The ability to think critically
- Obtained the essential foundation for his development into active and well-rounded citizen
- The ability to investigate and analyze questions and problems carefully and to present results and ideas clearly on the basis of solid data and study
- The appreciation for human values and cultural heritage
- The development of his own ideals, attitudes, and habits desirable for is improvement as a human being
- A strong sense of fulfillment and a concern for the social, political and academic problems of the country
- Professional competence, ethical soundness, cultural relevance and social awareness.
