Elementary Department Overview
The Elementary Department of Colegio de San Juan de Letran has been in existence for almost four hundred years now. It caters to children from pre-school to grade school. Now forming part of the Basic Education Department of the Colegio, the elementary level starts from the first two yearsof pre-school – Kindergarten and Preparatory – and six years of elementary education.
The pupils in this Department are called Pages, the name given to those who are in the first stage of knighthood. Here, pupils are taught the basic rudiments not only of reading, writing, and arithmetic but also of other areas, which include character formation.
Our educational strength has been built through 375 years of academic excellence. We see the elementary department with its organized structure and academic system as effective channels that facilitate the educative process that lead to the integral formation of the individual learners in the hallowed tradition of DEUS, PATRIA, LETRAN.
The Elementary Department adopts a Spiral Approach to learning, making sure that lessonsare continuously reinforced, the needs of the students are accommodated, and new skills are developed at various levels. At present, the Elementary Department enjoys the prestige of being a PAASCU Level 2 accredited school. This only proves that through theyears, Letran has continued its tradition of excellence by improving its systems of operations to ensure quality standard and the best delivery of educational services to its clients.
New and modern teaching methodologies and various curricular and co-curricular activities are matched by state-of the-art learning facilities. Letran is the first school with a Gigabit Ethernet Fiber Optic Backbone making it the most advanced school in the old Manila. Let your child take part in our e-strength. General Objective
The Elementary Department of Colegio de San Juan de Letran is expected to provide the child with a solid Catholic Dominican Foundation in basic education through a variety of learning experiences that are essential to his quality integral formation.
Specific Objectives
Specifically, a graduate of the Elementary Department of Colegio de San Juan de Letran shall become a person who:
