St. Liem de la Paz Foundation

As early as 1997, the germ of an idea of a Foundation was conceived by the then Colegio's Treasurer, Fr. Edwin A. Lao, O.P. After discussing the concept with the Rector, Fr. Ramon C. Cercado, O.P., there was a consensus that initiating such project, accruing to the interest of the students and employees, is one of the best things that could ever happen to Letran.

In the course of time, efforts in shaping the Foundation took place.  It was in SY 1998-99 that a core group of administrators initiated analytical researches and critical discussions on possible funding programs that the foundation would offer.

The long but careful process led to the finalization of the fifteen development programs in March 2000. The foundation was eventually registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), under the name San Vicente Liem De La Paz Foundation, entitled after the Colegio's alumnus, St. Vicente Liem De La Paz.

Why support the St. Liem de la Paz Foundation

Exponential Impact
LETRAN enriches thousands of lives each year through the work of its talented faculty, non-teaching personnel and students. Every charitable donation the Colegio receives thru the SVLP Foundation has the potential for exponential impact.
As one of the Country’s oldest College, LETRAN is an engine for innovation in every arena of Business Management, Information Technology, Communication Arts, Accountancy, Athletics and Community involvement.

Your Gift Makes a Difference
Highly motivated people can make a difference when they get involved. And they make an even bigger difference when they work together. Collectively, the gifts from individual donors – LETRAN’s alumni and friends -- help the Colegio maintain its high standard of excellence during the most challenging economic times. Donated funds also allow LETRAN to be more flexible -- responding more quickly to academic needs or launching innovative new projects for which funds are not are not available or sufficient.

How to make a Gift
Making a gift to SVLP Foundation is the best way to support the Colegio’s exceptional range of teaching, research and community-service initiatives. However you choose to support SVLP Foundation, you will be embarking on a partnership with one of the Country’s greatest academic and research institutions.
  • Outright Gifts
Gifts of cash, securities or other property have an immediate impact on LETRAN’s schools and programs because they can be used to support a variety of current needs.
  • Unrestricted Gifts
When you do not restrict the use of your gift, the Colegio gains crucial flexibility. Unrestricted gifts are used to meet changing or urgent needs such as library acquisitions, state-of-the-art technology, equipment or new research initiatives.
  • Matching Gifts
Many donors have demonstrated their support for SVLP Foundation by matching their gifts on the different development funds of the Foundation. Gifts are directly given to a specific development fund that matches the donor’s interest.
  • Pledges
A pledge is a formal statement of intention to make a gift to SVLP Foundation. It may be followed by an immediate gift, or it may simply confirm your intention to make a gift in the future. Many donors choose to complete their gift pledge by making regular payments over a period of time. This method often allows donors to give more generously than they may have originally considered.
  • Gifts of Endowment
A gift for endowment demonstrates your farsighted commitment to the Colegio. An endowment is a fund that is maintained in perpetuity, and only a portion of the annual investment return is used for the purposes specified by the donor. The rest of the investment yield is returned to principle. Thus, over the years, the fund can grow and hopefully keep pace with inflation. Such endowments, which typically bear the name of the donor or donors, reflect your interests and serve as an enduring testament to your generosity.
  • Gifts-in-Kind
You may wish to give SVLP Foundation a personal possession of special interest. The Foundation receives a wide variety of such gifts, including rare books and manuscripts, works of art, equipment and other items. To determine the Colegio’s interest in the object you would like to give, please contact the Foundation Secretariat.
For in-depth information on any aspect of giving, please contact the Institutional Communication and Relations Office (ICRO) at 3527-76-93 to 97 loc. 36
