About the Department
The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences seeks the education of the whole person stressing self-awareness, ethical values, critical inquiry, creativity and social responsibility through the integration of academics, the arts and community service.
The three guiding principles of the Liberal Studies Program such as: Breadth is achieved through a balance of required courses in humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, mathematics, languages and health and physical education;
Depth, is provided through a chosen major concentration in the different programs offered in CLAS such as: Advertising, Broadcasting, Communication Digital Arts, Information Technology Journalism, Political Science, Psychology, and the new programs, Nutrition and Dietetics with Culinary Arts, Food Technology and Legal Management; and
Integration, is provided through the offering of courses required in all programs such as seminar-workshops, research methods or communication research, and practicum or internship where students are required to undertake “on the job training” and come up with a research paper or thesis.Community Service, one of the pillars of higher education, is given a central place in all courses.
To continuously build a Christ centric community, the department endeavors to deepen Christ-centeredness through core-curricular offering of theology and other supplemental activities like parish exposure, retreats and recollection, community-outreach program to our partner communities, such as schools and barangays.
The dean and the faculty members constantly uphold the three pillars of academic excellence: instruction, community service and research. Collectively, they achieved Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities Level-2 rating and are progressively working towards achieving the next level.
The CLAS continuously meets the academic standards set by accreditation institutions; prepares to pursue the attainment of the next levels of accreditation until it reaches the autonomous level by strengthening the curricular programs through regular revision of the syllabi, meticulous preparation of test questions and documentation of activities.

They are equally supported by English-language faculty members who can very well make English a second language to Filipinos, Koreans and Chinese alike.
Overall, the efforts to build on the existing policies and good practices without hampering creativity and innovativeness are cause for hope and a renewed pride among the administrators, faculty and students. The promise of even better performance in the future is possible with the cooperation and
