The faculty, instruction and laboratory areas of the Institute of Information Technology underwent a Philippine Association of Accrediting Schools, Colleges and Universities preliminary visit last August 25 and 26.

Letran’s Self-Survey Team for IT is composed of the Director of Institute of IT, Asst. Prof. Maria Luisa Carlos as the chairperson for the faculty area; Dr. Grace Hilario for the instruction area; and Asst. Prof Randy Castillo for the laboratories area.

Fr. Orlando C. Aceron, O.P., served as the Executive Self-Self Survey chairperson.

The team together with their members prepared reports, exhibits and other supporting documents for the visit since last school year.

The faculty area looked into the qualifications of faculty members, their academic degrees, teaching experience, performance, faculty development program, among others.

The instruction area looked into the delivery of instruction, the curriculum, syllabi, classroom management, supervision of instruction, academic counseling and co-curricular activities.

The laboratories area examined facilities and equipment.

During the two-day visit, the PAASCU team observed classes, interviewed students and faculty members as well as administrators. They also checked the school’s facilities for IT programs. Furthermore, reports and documents concerning the areas were examined.

The PAASCU team that visited the IIT was composed of Vicente Antonio Pijano III, Senior Consultant of Delft University of Technology-Netherlands and Sr. Marivic Galamay, SFIC, ICT Director of St. Joseph’s College of Quezon Ciy, and Alex Gesmundo as PAASCU representative.

The PAASCU is a private organization which “accredits academic programs that meet commonly accepted standards of quality education.”

“We are waiting for the report (result) from PAASCU; hopefully we obtain the candidate status for us to be eligible to apply for a formal survey early next school year,” said Carlos.
