Memorable faces, laughter, patent joy; walls and hallways; all were considered as factors when around 200 alumni went back home to their beloved alma mater in the 94th Grand Alumni homecoming held on November 19.

At exactly 4:00 p.m., Letran rector Rev. Fr. Tamerlane Lana, O.P., graced the celebration of the Holy Eucharist and reminded the old students of the years when they still went to school every morning to hear lessons from their teachers, as well as when they were shouting and crying the memorable tenet of their alma mater: “DEUS, PATRIA, LETRAN” which he simplified, “God first before our country; country second before our alma mater; and our alma mater.”

The mass was followed by the presentation of medals hosted by Asst. Prof. Louie Benedict Ignacio, Assistant Director of the Office of the Student and Cultural Affairs. This year’s jubilarian medal recipients belong to classes 1986 (silver), 1971 (ruby), 1966 (sapphire), and 1961 (golden), with the medals given to them by the Rector assisted by Rev. Frs. Napoleon Encarnacion, O.P. and Boyd Sulpico, O.P. including Asst. Prof. Jhennie Caldito-Villar, Director of the Media Center and Public Affairs Division. Dr. Hector Aguiling, a member of class ’66, shared his sincere happiness of seeing his old friends: “I feel good to be [back] home. I am happy to see my fellow classmates after how many years [have gone by] despite the short period of time.”

The Grand Alumni Homecoming is celebrated every third Saturday of November. The next homecoming is slated on November 17, 2012.
