The Letran Student Council (LSC) conducted a donation drive together with the volunteers from the recognized student organizations (RSOs), cultural groups, and The LANCE coined as "Tulong Letranista" which aims to help the victims of the recent southwest monsoon rains, from August 10 to 14.

"Number one is that, classes are suspended, and you should not afford sleeping in your own household while others are submerged in flood and starving," said LSC president William Barry Codera, adding, "Kung baga we are in the comforts of our own home might as well we should help na lang yung mga naapektuhan ng calamity."

Volunteers repacked collected goods like ready-to-eat consumables, bottled water, medicines, toiletries, and clothes from the students, alumni, RSOs and several faculty members.

Cash donations, on the other hand, were used to buy goods. However, Codera also encouraged to directly donate cash to One Nation for Sanitation, a coordinated campaign by school student councils around the metro.

As of August 11, Letran already has 29 boxes of goods and 20 boxes of clothes plus boxes of medicine and sacks of rice. According to Codera, these goods will be turned over to the Center for Community Development of Letran. The CCD will then choose the community-beneficiaries with the LSC taking charge of relief distribution.

The LSC office is still accepting donations.

"We need everyone for the success of each event. An individual should not take the success of the event para lang sa kanya, but the success of the whole community," said Codera.
