Students with Basic Spanish courses organized a mobile exhibit titled "¡El Español late en el Corazon de los Letranistas! (Spanish beats in the hearts of the Letranites)" at the Letran Grounds on Sept. 10.
"The Spanish exhibit is in consonance with the NCAA celebration of the school," said Languages Area head Asst. Prof. Jonalou Labor, adding, "[It's] also part of appreciation of Letran’s Spanish past."

The exhibit was a live showcase of Spanish culture. Hospitality Management (HM) students Angeluz de Guzman and Jofet Trajano thrilled the crowd with a lively dance while Communication Arts (CA) senior John Darel Robles recited the "Mi Ultimo Adios." Also, CA junior Marhiz Ramos gave a soulful rendition of a Spanish song. Pictures of various places in Spain were also displayed all throughout the exhibit area.
A sampling of Spanish cuisine was made possible by HM students (Grupo de Alumnos de Hosteleria). They prepared tortillas, devilled eggs, and leche flan, among others. According to HM student Lady Dianne Lagrisola, they chose these Spanish-inspired dishes because these are usually served during Spanish parties.
"I cannot say nothing less from the students because they really gave me 100% support. All eight sections worked really hard for the exhibit," said Basic Spanish instructor Asst. Prof. Josefina Gonzalez.
According to Gonzalez, "Spanish really is a part of Letran. We can invite speakers from Instituto Cervantes to come and give us talks on the importance of Spanish in the curriculum. Perhaps also, Letran can sponsor a declamation contest in Spanish where we can invite schools like UST or Ateneo who are also offering Spanish to come up with contestants."
College of Liberal Arts and Sciences dean Prof. Rowena Capulong-Reyes was on hand to give the closing remarks. Operations Management junior Krista Czarina Nacario led the invocation while Advertising student Edrickson Garchitorena led the singing of the Philippine National Anthem. CA senior Robbin Nambayan emceed the event.
