TOAST
TO LETRAN ALUMNI IN PEOPLE POWER II
The Letran Alumni Association (LAA) and the
Letran Alumni Foundation, Inc. (LAFI) paid tribute to the alumni who have
been instrumental in the success of the People Power II last February 16,
2001 at the Casino Español, TM Kalaw, Manila.
Honorees included Gov.
Luis "Chavit" Singson, Pastor "Boy" Saycon, Atty.
Leonard de Vera, Capt. Baron Cervantes, Jose Luis Yulo, Cong. Sergio
Apostol, Sec. Richard Gordon and Msgr. Socrates Villegas.
Gov. Singson was recognized for
his pivotal part in the Impeachment Trial and in his courage for placing
the country’s interest over his personal safety that placed him in the
same category of other alumni who, in the past played similar crucial
roles in building the nation and preserving democracy.
The invocation was
offered by Very Rev. Fr. Pompeyo de Mesa. O.P., Jose Ma, A. Aligada,
president of Letran Alumni Association gave the welcome remarks. Lt. Col.
Julian M. Malonso introduced the honorees who related their rolesduring
the EDSA 2. Capt. Ben Hur Gomez, Colegio de San Juan de Letran and Letran
Alumni Foundation trustee gave the closing remark.
Jesus Mendoza, president
of the Letran Alumni Foundation was the emcee. The running priest Rev. Fr.
Roberto Reyes graced the affair, though not an alumnus. His father, Carlos
Reyes was a professor of Letran.
WALK
THE WALL 2001
Rev. Fr. Ramon Cercado, O.P., Vice Rector,
spoke before the non-academic personnel in a seminar-workshop on
Performance Management and Appraisal System (PMAS) last January 23-24 at
the St. Thomas Hall, St.Thomas Building. The said activity was held in
preparation for the implementation of the PMAS instrument this coming June
2001.
