The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) marked its 15th foundation anniversary at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium with the Strengths and Unity: Milestone for Sports Excellence.
The event’s highlight was the awarding of the plaques of recognition to people who devoted and contributed much to PSC’s growth and progress. One of the awardees was Dr. Eli Bontigao, chairman of the physical education area of the College of Liberal Arts, Sciences and Education. Dr. Bontigao served the PSC as commissioner from 1995-1998 before joining Letran.
He said, “I was happy and satisfied that my efforts as a former commissioner of PSC were recognized. My message to the present sports officials is to always be transparent, give direction to the country’s sports program and remove the deadwoods in the organization to really achieve its goal.”
Dr. Bontigao has a PH.D. in Education major in Sports Administration and a degree in Criminal Justice from Temple University and Villanova University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is a retired co lonel of the Philippine Army.
The PSC aims to further unify and consolidate its achievements as the country’s prime catalyst of athletes’ development and excellence. Meanwhile, the PSC is preparing Filipino athletes for the country’s hosting and participation in the forthcoming Southeast Asian Games this December.
