The Letran Knights finished in the 84th National Collegiate Athletic Association season at 3rd place while the Letran Squires clinched the 2nd place.

The vanguards of Coach Louie Alas failed to make it to the Finals after a dismal finish with Jose Rizal University.

The first round of the season opened with high hopes for the Letranites after they gained the 6-1 scorecard. The second round, though, was a different story where the Knights only won thrice after seven match-ups. After the combined two games with the Heavy Bombers in the quarterfinals and in the semis, the Knights finally bid goodbye to the final birth after losing both games.

The Squires, on the other hand, were able to make it to the final round against the five-peat contender, San Sebastian Staglets. It was a sweet victory for the Staglets after sweeping not only the eliminations but also the final round at the expense of the Squires.

Knight Rafael Joey “RJ” Jazul and Squires Glenn Khobuntin and Jerelan Tampus were included in the coveted Mythical Five selection in their respective divisions. Tampus was also named Rookie of the Year.

Although the Knights and the Squires failed to take home the championship trophies this season, they promise to make it better next year as they continue their practices and trainings under their mentors.

It might be a heart-breaking loss for the Letran Community, but the Dugo’ng Arriba spirit still remains.
