The Squires entered the Finals of the 85th National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) season-juniors division after beating the San Sebastian Staglettes in its semi-finals duel recently at The Arena in San Juan. The Squires, without giving extra hope for the Staglettes, went for the win in the first semi-finals match. 

After failing to sweep the conference, the Squires bounced back with an 89-84 win against the Mendiola-based squad and are now back in the finals against their long-time rivals, San Beda Red Cubs. 

Jarelan Tampus, exploded with 37 points at the end of the game while another cager contributed 17 points for the Squires to gain the five-point lead advantage. Tampus had his 14 points in the last quarter of the game when the Staglettes were just two points with less than a minute to go in the clock. The “never give in, never give up” spirit of the Squires gave them the win.

On the other hand, after a hurtful loss from San Beda, the Knights definitely deserved recognition by clinging in the Final Four despite being a “very young” team.
