On November 17, CCD started distributing sacks to students and employees to collect donations from them. “I felt very happy giving my old toys which I was enjoyed when I was a kid, I never thought that it would still be at used and be enjoyed by less fortunate kids,” said Letran Community Volunteer Secretary Camille Villanueva. 

 

Letran has partnered with Jollibee to make Letranites ambassadors of their campaign. As a partner school, Letran launched the Jolly Toys Scouts campaign and facilitated the mechanics of it. Each student was given a small sack that they have to fill with either books or old toys. In return, Jollibee matched all donations with a Jollibee school item allowing Letran to double their collection resulting to double number of children that will benefit. This campaign also enabled Letran to teach the joy of sharing and being part of the nationwide cause and to bring Christmas to more children. 

 

Jollibee Maaga ang Pasko is a 15-year old nationwide campaign for toy and book collection drive for the benefit of the less fortunate children.

“We’re not just putting the toys and books inside the Jollibee boxes, we had to count it and it was really very tiring, especially that everyday there were new sacks coming,  full of donations. But at the end, you would just feel proud of your fellow students that they were really concerned and conscious of what was happening around,” said student assistant Christian Ronquillo. 

 

CCD had a total turn-over of 22 boxes containing 4,392 assorted toys and two boxes of 707 pieces of books. 

 

On December 7, CCD together with employee volunteers, LCV and student assistants went to Ilugin Elementary School at Pasig City and Maricks Elementary School at Cainta, Rizal to help Jollibee in distributing the donations for the children and on December 11 for the children of partner communities.
