Feast of Our Lady of La Naval
The culmination of the nine-day novena masses in honor of Our Lady of the Rosary, La Naval de Manila ended with a spectacular and well-organized procession, which drew devotees by the thousands last October 11, 2009. After a mass in the afternoon, the procession commenced around 4:00 in the afternoon. About twenty-four images of Dominican saints lined up the streets, with throngs of people following. At the end came the glorious image, and it was enthroned at the Santo Domingo Church, amidst hymns of veneration and love. The Dominican family came in full force of course, with dozens of religious sisters, laity and religious brothers. Some Jesuit brothers and Blessed Sacrament fathers attended too. It was, since the early centuries been dubbed as the “mother of all processions”. And it still is. (Photos by Br. Oscar Novem Enjaynes, OP)
