Knights grab lawn tennis crown
The Knights edged the Blazers, last year’s champions, 2-1, to emerge the lawn tennis title holders this year. Dave Regencio teamed up with Elnathan Abella in trouncing Larry Antigua and Daniel Bautista, 7-5, 3-6, 6-2, and then turned back a well-rested Martin Ramos in the deciding singles duel, 6-3. 7-6, to eke out the come-from-behind win. CSB actually took the initiative early after Bautista walloped Keff Gamano in the first singles match, 6-3, 6-4, but lost steam in the doubles and the deciding singles match. (photo by Jan Dizon)
Beach volley tourney kicks off

San Sebastian seeks to extend its reign in the women’s division for the third straight year while Letran shoots for a repeat in the mean’s side as the two open their title campaign on Friday in the 85th NCAA beach volley tournament at the Cantada Sports Center in Taguig City.

After an action-packed, drama-filled firstsemester events, the 85th NCAA season resumes in the second semester this year with a promise of more action starting with soccer on Jan. 19 at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City. League Management Committee chairJose Mari Lacson of host San Beda yesterday announced the league schedule for second semester sports opening with football action that would be presided by Mike del Mundo of Perpetual Help. It is often said that the usual description of being a basketball star is easily identifiable. One who has the ability to score points, grab more rebounds, steal momentous passes and dunk right on the hook is correctly described as basketball superstar. But there is no such an easy way being on the top. It requires a lot of hard work, dedication, commitment and rigid training, combined with the virtue and value of sportsmanship and team play.
